We will journey to the Peloponnese, making a quick stop at the Corinth Canal, a remarkable engineering feat from the late 19th century. As we continue through the mountains, we’ll arrive in Tripoli, the capital of the Arcadia region, where we'll pause to explore the lively Aeros Square, known for its cafes and restaurants. Our next stop will be Olympia, where a local guide will take us through the Archaeological Site (tickets included). Key highlights of the site include the Temple of Zeus, the Stadium, the Gymnasium, and the Arena. Next to the cathedral is the small Church of St. Andrew, a notable pilgrimage site. Dinner will be provided.
Following breakfast, we will cross the Rio–Antirrio Bridge, an impressive suspension bridge linking the Peloponnese to the Greek mainland. Our journey will take us through the areas of Central Greece and Epirus. Upon reaching Igoumenitsa, a coastal town, you will have time to explore before boarding the modern ferry at 2:00 p.m. to traverse the Ionian Sea to Italy. We expect to arrive in Brindisi by approximately 9:00 p.m., where we will spend the night.
Today, we will explore two remarkable and authentic towns. Our first destination will be Alberobello, renowned for its unique conical-shaped houses known as trulli. These distinctive structures, characterized by their stacked stone roofs, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and exemplify Italian rural architecture. Next, we will travel to Matera, situated in the Basilicata region, famous for its ancient historic center and the Sassi di Matera—an intricate network of dwellings and buildings carved into the rock, dating back thousands of years. This site is not only a World Heritage Site but also one of the oldest continuously inhabited human settlements in the world. You will have time to explore and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey through Basilicata and Campania, soaking in the stunning mountain scenery. We will arrive in Naples by evening, where you will have free time to discover the city.

Our first stop will be the San Giovanni in Venere Abbey, an exquisite 11th-century abbey constructed on the site of an ancient Roman temple. You will have time to enjoy lunch and take a leisurely stroll. We will then proceed to Trani, often referred to as “the pearl of the Adriatic.” This beautiful city overlooks the sea and boasts its stunning pink Romanesque cathedral. Later in the day, we will arrive in Bari, where you will have free time to explore the vibrant port, stroll along the waterfront, and meander through the narrow streets of the old town before heading to the hotel.

If the group is small, you may travel without a guide, and a new guide will meet you upon arrival.

This isolated area maintains a distinct culture shaped by Slavic and Turkish influences. Take some time to stroll through its streets, adorned with traditional stone houses, red-tiled roofs, and intricately carved wooden balconies. Continuing into Thessaly, we will stop in Kastraki, a charming village that offers breathtaking views of the Meteora Valley. Enjoy lunch before we delve into Meteora, an extraordinary World Heritage Site. The term “Metéora” in Greek translates to “suspended in the air” or “in the sky,” aptly depicting the towering rock formations topped with monasteries. These remote locations have served as retreats for monks seeking solitude and peace for centuries. Our visit will include admission to one of the most famous monasteries.
